I've been looking at the seinheiser one for 300, but I'm trying to weight out my options. Any other recomendations? I already have a 57 and a SP C1 along with a DMP3 preamp w/ a RNC compressor.

The C1 is a nice mic...great on vocals, I've used it on acoustic guitar and I prefer over my 57. It brighter and requires very little gain on the preamp. The DMP3 is a two channel preamp from M Audio (Its the big brother of the audiobuddy if you know that one). I like it a lot...very quiet...it sounds a little dark. You can also directly input a bass into it instead of using the yamaha. I just got the RNC recently and I'm still trying to figure out what settings to use. Before I was using the setting that they give you on the yamaha. Oh yeah, the DMP3 is about 180.00 or something...It's a pretty good deal for that much. Do you have an external preamp? If not I'd get this one: its pretty cheap and is clean.

May I offfer as well, Studio Projects C-3. It is the "big brother" of the C-1, with just a hair more warmth to it, and it has the benefits of multiple pattern settings. Having started my mics with an "industry standard" multi pattern C414, I think for a good all around good mic, a multi-pattern is a great way to go for multiple uses. The C-3 is in your price range, and is fantastic.

I use a MXL V-69 Mogami large tube condenser mic. I like'd it so much, I bought two of them. They're about $300 each. Great for vocals, acoustic guitar, and persussion
